Ravens offense stands primed to be better than it was a year ago for a clear reason

Lamar Jackson knows what the offense is capable of .

The MVP-caliber quarterback is heading into year two under offensive coordinator Todd Monken, and Jackson is feeling great about the direction the unit is heading .

"Going into my second season [and] having a whole offseason, and just building with our guys [some] chemistry, and listening to Coach [Todd Monken] and seeing what his vision is for the offense," Jackson said. "I feel like this year, it'll be different this go around."

What will help the Ravens this time around is the arrival of Derrick Henry, the veteran running back who played eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

He is a player that brings elite talent at the running back position, a place where the Ravens struggled at points during the 2023 season.

Henry may not be the same athlete he was three or four years ago, but he still has the talent to make monumental plays. That has Jackson animated for Week 1 of the regular season.

"Just to see this guy do what he's been doing since forever, I'm just ready," the quarterback said. "I'm just glad he's on our side this time – like I always tell you all – and we're not going against him. But, I'm ready. I'm hype. I'm definitely hype."

The Ravens offense appears ready. Jackson is around 30 pounds lighter, and he is heading into the second year in a system with which he already won an MVP . If things get better, the rest of the league ought to be worried.
