Mike McDaniel confirms suspicion regarding status of two key Miami Dolphins starters for the start of the 2024 season

It appears as though the Miami Dolphins will be without a pair of important starters for the first four games of their 2024 season.

On Monday morning, head coach Mike McDaniel announced during his press conference that G Isaiah Wynn and OLB Bradley Chubb will start their season on the reserve/PUP list, along with OLB Cameron Goode.

He listed the other remaining player active/PUP list, Odell Beckham, Jr. as "TBD".

The status of Wynn and Chubb shouldn't come as a surprise.  Both players have remained on the PUP list and thus have been unable to practice, indicating they both still have a way to go before they're going to be ready for game action.

Chubb suffered a torn ACL in the final minutes of a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 last year.  Wynn suffered a quad injury in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, which cost him the rest of the season.  Mike McDaniel recently announced that Wynn was dealing with "compounding stuff" in his quad, which certainly wasn't a good sign about his current status.  That concern proved to be justified on Monday.

Beckham, Jr., who signed with Miami back in May on a one-year deal , has yet to work with QB Tua Tagovailoa during a practice setting. As such, even when he does get healthy, he'll still have to work to get both game ready without the benefit of a training camp and get in sync with his new quarterback and offense.  As such, it's likely going to be a little bit before we see a primed and ready Beckham, Jr. on the field for Miami, even if he manages to avoid going on reserve/PUP.

But such has been the mantra for this team for too long the last two years: next man up.
