A former Tennessee Vols standout was among the New England Patriots' first roster cuts this week.

Former Vols tight end Jacob Warren signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft.

Warren, who was teammates at Tennessee with Patriots rookie quarterback Joe Milton, was waived on Monday afternoon according to multiple reports.

Warren played at Tennessee from 2019 to 2023. He had his best season in 2023 when he caught 16 passes for 191 yards and four touchdowns while also making a big impact as a blocker.

The former Vol had a few nice moments during Patriots training camp, but it wasn't enough for the Knoxville native to make New England's 53-man roster.

Warren will likely land on the Patriots' practice squad. And he could certainly get a chance to be elevated to the 53-man roster later in the season. So even though Warren was cut on Monday, it doesn't mean that his NFL journey is over. If Warren continues to put in the work, he should get a shot at being active on game day for an NFL franchise.
