Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin appears to have Ohio State’s offseason on his mind with his latest social media move

In this day in age, NIL is just about everything in recruiting in the major college sports. College football specifically is heavily factored by it and some teams are said to be spending millions and millions on rosters.

Ohio State had quite the offseason retaining much of their roster from last year that could have gone to the NFL, as well as being aggressive in the transfer portal.

One SEC coach who lost his starting running back to the Buckeyes appears to have Ohio State’s spending on his mind.

ESPN recently released an article headlined ‘Ohio State went all-in this offseason, motivated by Michigan ’ and Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin posted it to X (Twitter).  Kiffin posted a headline saying ‘How Ohio State built a $20 million, 'national championship or bust' roster’.

One of Ohio State’s biggest additions in the offseason was transfer running back Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss . Judkins was a star running back for the Rebels each of the last two seasons and totaled 2,725 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns.

Ohio State did spend a lot on keeping the roster intact for this season, but all major college football teams are doing the same. Some spend more than others and some can’t match what others spend. It is the name of the game in today’s landscape and it doesn’t look like that is changing anytime soon.

Kiffin could be upset about the loss of Judkins still, or it is something else. But him posting an article like that to his timeline is quite interesting and on-brand at that. Perhaps Kiffin will see the Buckeyes this season in the expanded playoff format, we will have to let that play out.
