National college football analyst makes bold prediction for Texas QB Arch Manning that will likely come true

On3's Jesse Simonton made some "bold predictions" this week for the 2024 college football season and one of his predictions involves Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning.

Manning, a former five-star recruit, will enter the 2024 season as the primary backup to starting quarterback Quinn Ewers.

While there's absolutely no quarterback controversy in Austin (for now) -- Ewers is a potential early round NFL draft selection -- there's plenty of intrigue surrounding Manning after his big performance in the Texas spring game earlier this year (and also because of his famous last name).

Simonton predicted on Tuesday that we'll see Manning start a game for Texas this fall due to the fact that Ewers has missed time in each of the last two seasons (former Longhorns quarterback Maalik Murphy, who is now at Duke, started two games for Texas last season when Ewers had to miss time).

Maybe Ewers stays healthy for the entire season and Manning only sees action in blowouts. History, however, suggests that's unlikely. It seems like a good bet that Manning will start at least one game for Texas this season.

If Manning does end up making a start for Texas in 2024, it'll be interesting to see if a quarterback controversy emerges in the event that Arch has a breakout performance while starting in relief of Ewers.
