National college football analyst makes bold prediction for Lane Kiffin in 2024 that Ole Miss fans will hate

On3's Jesse Simonton made a "bold prediction" for Lane Kiffin on Tuesday that will likely annoy fans of the Ole Miss Rebels.

One of Simonton's 10 bold predictions for 2024 is that it will be Kiffin's final season as the head coach at Ole Miss.

Kiffin, who has previously served as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Vols, USC Trojans, and FAU Owls, is entering his fifth season as the head coach of the Rebels. It's his longest stint anywhere as a head coach (Kiffin is 34-15 in his first four seasons in Oxford).

From On3 : Ole Miss is going all-in on the 2024 season, with the team’s roster due for a significant reset in 2025. If the Rebels have a special, storied season then maybe Kiffin parlays his career renaissance back into the NFL. Maybe he becomes the frontrunner for the Florida job should the Gators move on from Billy Napier. If Ole Miss’ season doesn’t go according to script, Kiffin could be eyeing a fresh start elsewhere anyway. Kiffin has played chicken with Ole Miss’ administration several times already, and this is the year the “Portal King” makes a move himself.

I don't think it's any sort of "sure thing" that Kiffin will leave Ole Miss after the 2024 season. He seems happy in Oxford and I think the current version of Kiffin is the best version yet.

But if Kififn has another great season at Ole Miss, he'll likely have plenty of job opportunities come his way. Would Kiffin turn down Florida if the Gators fire Billy Napier? Or as Simonton mentioned, could Kiffin want another shot in the NFL? Considering all of the time that coaches have to spend on recruiting, the NCAA transfer portal, NIL, and staff decisions, it would be easy to see how Kiffin would prefer to be a head coach at the pro level.

On the flip side, if Ole Miss comes up short of the 12-team College Football Playoff in 2024, Kiffin could look to leave town for a program where it's easier to build a roster through high school recruiting. It's all speculation for now, but this is a bold prediction from Simonton that I could see going either way.
