New Orleans Saints nickelback Alontae Taylor sent fans into a frenzy on Monday evening. Taylor tweeted/posted some strong support for rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler on his Twitter/X account.

The post has since been deleted. Taylor followed it up with a clarification post, supporting both Rattler and starting QB Derek Carr.

As soon as Taylor tweeted the first image, some fans exploded online. They pointed to the post as an example of Carr "losing the locker room" to the rookie already. Others felt like he was pushing for Rattler to be the starter already, instead of Carr.

Of course, Taylor's post was probably moreso just a great gesture as a teammate to the young QB. Rattler has gotten plenty of publicity on social platforms over the past couple of days, and Taylor took notice.

The NFL even posted a highlight reel video from Rattler's preseason performance from Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

In his follow-up post from Monday morning, Taylor makes it clear that he still supports Carr as the team's starter. The prior post, which was taken down, was never meant to be taken as disrespect to the veteran starter or anything of that kind.

Did the staff or front office get involved in order for Taylor to delete his Rattler support to avoid any conflict? We will never truly know.

That won't stop Saints fans from believing that was the case, though.

Carr will be the Saints starter in 2024. There's no getting around it.

Now, if the Saints offense struggles for an extended amount of time, that's when it could get interesting. That is part of the reason why fans were so intrigued by the backup QB battle between Rattler and Jake Haener.

Let's see how it all unfolds in New Orleans this season. Alontae Taylor clearly has a soft spot for the rookie gunslinger already.
