LSU legend and Super Bowl champion visited the Colts with a chance to reinforce their thinnest position group

Former Louisianna State University Tiger Leonard Fournette seems not ready to call it quits on his professional football career.

ESPN's Adam Schefter announced that Fournette visited the Indianapolis Colts on Monday.

Fournette spent his entire three-year college career at LSU from 2014 to 2016, where he appeared in 32 games and recorded 3,830 rushing yards on 616 attempts (6.2 ypc) and 40 touchdowns. His best season at LSU came during his sophomore season in 2015, where he set career highs across the board with 1,953 yards on 300 carries and 22 touchdowns. He etched his name into LSU's record books with him recording the most rushing yards and touchdowns in a single season. These numbers also led him to finish sixth in the Heisman voting in 2015.

On Monday, he visited with and reportedly worked out with the Colts, part of a workout that consisted of "maybe a half-dozen other players." The Colts have a clear starter in place in Jonathan Taylor, but their depth at the position is questionable at best. The team's primary backup at RB seems to be Trey Sermon, and the team chose to keep only three on their initial 53-man roster, with Tyler Goodson also making the team.

Fournette could certainly upgrade the Colts' RB room depth. The former first-round pick and Super Bowl champion only appeared in two games with the Buffalo Bills last year, but he is only one season removed from having over 1,000 yards from scrimmage with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022, with 668 rushing yards, 523 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns. We will have to wait and see if this workout results in a contract with the Colts, but the LSU legend could be returning to an NFL field soon.
