Touchdown in Chiefs vs Ravens game gives Tennessee Vols fans flashback of horrible call that cost UT a game

A touchdown in the Kansas City Chiefs' season-opening 27-20 win against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night immediately gave Tennessee Vols fans flashbacks of a terrible call that cost UT a game in 2021.

In the third quarter on Thursday night, Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco scored a touchdown on a run where it looked like his forward progress was clearly stopped. The play, however, was allowed to continue and Pacheco, via the assistance of his teammates (including superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes), pushed his way into the end zone for the score.

That touchdown immediately reminded Tennessee fans of the 2021 Music City Bowl when Vols running back Jaylen Wright crossed the goal line, but the touchdown didn't count because officials said that his forward progress had been stopped.

Here was the view of that play from AtoZ Sports' Austin Stanley.

I mean, that was clearly more of a touchdown than Pacheco's touchdown against the Ravens.

Sometimes the calls just don't go your way. And they definitely didn't for Tennessee in the 2021 Music City Bowl.
