HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a roughly 2.5-mile safety improvement project on Derry Street (Route 3012) in the Harrisburg area Wednesday that will begin next week.

The project includes milling, paving, base replacement, signs, pavement markings, ADA ramps, pedestrian facility improvements at 19th Street and 21st Street intersections and other miscellaneous improvements on Derry Street. The improvements will be from 13th Street in Harrisburg through Paxtang Borough to Rosewood Lane in Swatara Township, Dauphin County.

The project is slated to start Tuesday, May 28, depending on the weather. ADA ramps will start being constructed during daylight hours, but traffic impacts will be minimal during this part.

Milling and paving will begin around Labor Day with the work mostly taking place at night. There will be lane restrictions and flagging as needed.

This $2,590,173 project is being done by the JVI Group, Inc. of York Spring, Pennsylvania. Work is expected to be finished by Dec. 3, 204.
