(WHTM) — The state game commission opened a new way to take in the great outdoors.

A new wildlife viewing platform officially opened on state game lands on Haldeman Island near Duncannon. Haldeman Island was always open to the public.

The game commissions say the new platform provides visitors shelter, along with a great view.

“So what we did was we found the spot that offers the best views, the best chance to see out to the river, see the waterfowl crossings, see the wetlands here and we created this structure for them to take it all in,” executive director for the game commission Steve Smith said.
