LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) — A popular Lancaster County-based smorgasbord is celebrating 95 years of operation right here in the Midstate.

Miller’s Smorgasbord , which is best known for offering a vast variety of home-cooked meals that are steeped in Pennsylvania Dutch tradition, has announced that they are officially celebrating 95 years of operation.

According to Miller’s Smorgasbord, they first debuted in 1929 when Enos Miller established a truck repair gas station on Lincoln Highway East (before Route 30 even existed).

His wife Anna, who had a knack for home-cooked meals, began offering her food to Enos’ customers. Over time, word spread about Anna’s Pennsylvania Dutch specialties, such as her Chicken and Waffles, and eventually, Anna’s dining area expanded and took over the truck repair shop.

In 1948, the Miller’s sold the restaurant to their long-time employees Beatrice and Thomas Strauss. After several years of running the establishment, the Strauss’s renamed the restaurant ‘Miller’s Smorgasbord’ in in 1957.

“As we celebrate 95 years, we are reminded of the deep roots and rich traditions that have made Miller’s Smorgasbord a cherished part of Lancaster County. It’s an honor to continue the legacy that began with Enos and Anna Miller, serving up the same hearty, home-cooked meals that have brought generations of families together. We look forward to the next 95 years of sharing our love for great food and warm hospitality with all who walk through our doors,” Tom Neely, CEO said.

In celebration of 95 years, Miller’s Smorgasbord will be hosting special events throughout October including weekly giveaways and Saturday Meet the Artisan Days.

Furthermore, to mark this 95-year-long milestone, Miller’s has updated its entrance lobby by infusing it with 1920s decor reminiscent of Enos’ original garage. They also recently opened a new gift shop called Anna’s Gifts & Sundries at The Shoppes at Miller’s.

Miller’s Smorgasbord is located at 2811 Lincoln Highway East in Ronks, Pa. Their current hours of operation are:

    • Mondays – Thursdays // 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Fridays – Saturdays // 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Sundays // 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

To this day, Miller’s Smorgasbord continues to be one of the best buffets in the country. Back in June abc27 news reported when Miller’s Smorgasbord was ranked as being the third best buffet in the county by USA Today as part of their Readers’ Choice 2024 Awards.
