Victim in fatal Iron County semi-truck crash identified

IRON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The victim of a fatal rollover was identified by Utah Highway Patrol earlier today.

Payton Roberts, 28, was identified as the victim of a semi-truck crash that took place approximately a week ago. ABC4 previously reported that in the early morning hours of Aug. 18, two semi-trucks were heading northbound on I-15 near milepost 85 in Iron County, just north of Parowan.

According to Cpl. Haley Scheer, from UHP, for an unknown reason, the semi in back rear-ended the semi in front, then veered off the right shoulder and rolled.

Roberts, the driver of the rolled semi, died at the scene.

UHP has not released any further information on the incident.
