Area students to take perform in artists challenge on Saturday

POTSDAM (WWTI) – Fifteen participants in the 2024 Vernice N. Church Challenge for Young Artists will perform in Hosmer Hall at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, on Saturday, April 13.

This will be before a panel of professional musicians from the Orchestra of Northern New York to receive feedback from them. Students are coming from Potsdam, Massena, and Lisbon schools as well as from Croghan, Lowville, Beaver Falls, Fort Edwards, and Rome schools.

The Challenge is not a competition, but rather an opportunity for young people who are “Pursuing Artistic Growth” to hone their skills and receive pointers about their performance before the NYSSMA event in May.

The program runs from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public
