    Carthage & Beaver River districts compete in online Chess Competition

    CARTHAGE & BEAVER RIVER, N.Y. (WWTI) – Carthage Middle School and Beaver River Central School District’s 4-H chess teams faced off in cyberspace on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

    The teams played a five-board match on the Internet platform Chess.com. All matches were played with a 10-minute time control. Carthage’s Kayden Blackburn scored first on board one with a 19-move miniature, board two also went to Carthage. Robert Buckley took the win for Beaver River on board three. The fourth game went to Carthage. Nikolas Brasie and Liam Ortiz made 101 moves to finish the match. Final score: Carthage 3.5, Beaver River 1.5.
