Officer-Involved Shooting: Barricaded Suspect Emerges from Home Brandishing Handgun in West Texas
ABILENE, Texas — A 36-year-old man was fatally shot by police after a standoff in Abilene on July 2, 2024. Officers were dispatched to the corner of South 7th and Alameda Street around 2:12 p.m. for a disturbance involving Jeremy Bennett, who was reportedly brandishing a handgun and threatening two females inside a home, according to the Abilene Police Department. Bennett fled the scene but was later found in a nearby residence.

Abilene Police to Auction Abandoned Vehicles Online
ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Impound Facility has announced an online auction of abandoned motor vehicles, set to begin on July 8, 2024. The auction, hosted on RENEBATES.COM, will run until July 12, 2024, at noon, featuring approximately 95 vehicles. According to a press release from the Abilene Police Department, in-person viewing of the vehicles will be available on July 9 and July 10 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the impound lot located at 2349 Sandy St., off East Hwy 80 (Business 20). The impound facility is situated one mile east of Judge Ely, with directions to turn south onto Shaffner Rd. and then east at the intersection of Sandy St. Pictures of the vehicles are also available on the online auction site, stated the press release.
