Taylor County issues burn ban ahead of July 4th holiday

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – Taylor County commissioners have issued a burn ban ahead of the July 4 ^th holiday.

An Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning was enacted Tuesday, July 2 and will be in effect for the next 90 days or sooner, if determined by commissioners.

Anyone who, “knowingly or intentionally engages in any activity outdoors which could allow flames or sparks that could result in a fire” will be in violation of the ban and is could subject to a Class C Misdemeanor fine.

Firework sales are currently still allowed in Taylor County and can still be discharged on private property within county limits, according to Taylor County Commissioner Chuck Statler.

Fireworks are prohibited in the City of Abilene.
