Organizers have put the finishing touches on Wednesday evening's WesTex Connects 25th annual Fireworks Spectacular & Drone Show.

For the first time, this year's fireworks show will be held at Wylie High School's Hugh Sandifer Stadium.

In past years, the show has been held at the Festival Gardens near the Abilene Zoo. Not paid for by the city or Wylie High School, the fireworks show has been a longtime independent venture.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with the Dyess Honor Guard kicking off the event. The Matera Grill Hot Dog Buffet will be served from 6:30-8 p.m. though concessions will be open throughout the night. Spectators will be seated on the home side of the field only.

Live music starts at 7 p.m. with Parkside, followed by an aircraft flyover at 8 p.m. by Big Country 1. Live music then resumes with South of Mayhem at 8:15 p.m.
