Abington High School's football team will be entering the 2024 season under new leadership for the first time in 50 years.

Assistant Ed Reilly was named the program's next head coach in December, 2023, and will follow the legacy of Jim Kelliher, who retired at the age of 75 after winning his last game: A 46-6 win over Whitman-Hanson on Thanksgiving. Reilly has been a longtime assistant with the team, and was a go-to-guy for Kelliher.

In Kelliher's final year, the team earned the No. 2 seed in the Division 6 tournament before being upset by No. 15 Stoneham 22-14 in the round of 16. Still, it was a major bounce-back season for the team, as Abington experienced it's first season finishing below .500 in the last two decades in 2022.

Now in his first year, Reilly seeks to continue the standard of success that Kelliher mantained.
