Local Artists and Master Gardeners to be Celebrated at Jimmy Naifeh Center Reception

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will host a reception for the Tipton Art League Plein Air Painters and the Tipton County Extension Master Gardeners. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jimmy Naifeh Center's Learning Resource Center in Tipton County. The exhibit will showcase paintings of Tipton County scenes.

The artists, including Jenny Brandon, Barrie Foster, Tammy Langlois, Rachel Suratt, Patsy Turner, and the late Richard Reed, have painted various Brighton, TN landmarks. These include the old train depot, Covington’s Square, water tower, Hotel Lindo, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, and the Covington square gazebo.

The artists have diverse backgrounds. Brandon and Turner are retired teachers who enjoy painting in all mediums. Foster, a retired museum director, and Langlois now teach art in Covington. Reed, who has passed away, was a retired teacher and artist in residence at the Tipton County Museum.

The Tipton Art League Plein Air Painters' artwork will be displayed at the Jimmy Naifeh Center from April 1 to June 28, 2024.
