CWI Celebrates Student Innovations and Achievements at Annual Connections Project in Nampa

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) held its ninth annual Connections Project at the Nampa Campus Academic Building on April 18, 2024. This event showcased the academic achievements and projects of students from various disciplines. The Connections Project also included the Connections Excellence Awards, which recognized outstanding student contributions.

During the event, students from Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences (HASS), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) presented their research and competed for awards. Judges selected winners in each category, awarding prizes of $100 and $150. In the HASS category, Erica Kreczkowski won first place for her research on cognitive distortions among college students. In the STEM category, Elliot Johnson received first place for his study on local water body biodiversity.

The event featured both recorded and live mini-talks, allowing students to present their capstone projects and research. Clinton Florian won in the HASS category for his psychology project, and Jacob Leuzinger was recognized in the STEM category for his research on organic compounds.

Additionally, the CWI Biology Club presented their Boise River ReWild project, and the Speech and Debate team performed an Interpreter’s Theatre piece titled “Puffs” by Matt Cox.
