Hey Florida! If you've been a regular at the Publix in Lakeland's Lake Miriam shopping center, here's some news you might find interesting. The store, a staple since 1978, has closed its doors as of July 6, 2024, for a major overhaul—think demolition, refurbishment, and expansion!

The old Publix, spanning 59,533 square feet, is set to get a serious upgrade. When it reopens around November 2025, it'll boast a more spacious layout of 63,830 square feet. That means more room for all your favorite groceries and maybe even a few surprises.

What can you expect from the new and improved Publix? Well, an Apron's cooking school, perfect for brushing up on your culinary skills. Plus, there'll be a cozy mezzanine with seating, where you can relax and enjoy a snack or two. Oh, and don't forget—a brand-new liquor store and pharmacy will also be part of the mix.

Now, if you're a fan of the current Publix's vibe, you'll be glad to know it's rated a solid 4.7 stars on Google. Customers love the friendly service and wide selection, though some have mentioned they wouldn't mind seeing a few more discounts.

One reviewer, Heather, summed it up nicely: "We always have a nice time. So many events and things to do. Drinks are great. Pools are very nice. staff very friendly. Pets are very welcomed."

During the 16-month closure, you can still get your Publix fix at nearby alternatives like the Greenwise Market (recently converted to a traditional store) or hop over to the Oakbridge or Southgate locations, both just a quick drive away.

So, while change is on the horizon for the Lakeland Publix, it promises to come back bigger and better than ever. Keep an eye out for updates, and let's see what the revamped store has in store for us!
