HCA Florida North Florida Hospital earns re-accreditation in weight loss surgery

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – HCA Florida North Florida Hospital announced today its bariatric surgery center has earned re-accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, a joint Quality Program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Bariatric surgery, more commonly known as weight loss surgery, is designed to treat obesity and related diseases.

To earn re-accreditation, the Gainesville hospital met rigorous criteria for staffing, training, facility infrastructure, and patient care pathways, ensuring its ability to support patients with obesity, according to the accreditation program. HCA Florida North Florida Hospital also participates in a national data registry that yields semiannual reports on the quality of its surgical outcomes and identifies opportunities for quality improvement.
