7/29/2024: Unsettled, humid days ahead

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

A storm system churning away just off southern New England is sending showers our way this morning – unlike the typical west-to-east motion of storms across our region, all of today’s activity will be drifting inland from the coast.

As we go into the afternoon, a few steadier downpours and rumbles of thunder are possible – though we don’t expect any especially strong storms or severe weather.

Temperatures will be warmer (near 90!) off towards central New York, where they stay dry with more sun. Expect low 80’s in and around Albany. Bennington and Berkshire counties will struggle to get out of the upper 70’s, with more consistent clouds and showers.

Tonight, expect a lull in the showers. Clouds stick around and humidity will continue to build with light winds out of the south-southeast. Lows in the 60’s for most.

Tomorrow looks warmer with breaks of sun in the morning and midday. In the afternoon, we could see a few pop up showers and thunderstorms.

More widespread showers and storms on Wednesday, followed by a mostly dry day on Thursday. Unfortunately, it may feel a little too hot and humid to take full advantage of the quieter weather. Stay cool!

Daily shower and storm chances are back in the mix for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Highs will peak in the mid to upper 80’s. A summertime forecast for sure!
