    Pretrial detention filed for October 2023 murder suspects

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The state has filed for pretrial detention against three men facing murder charges in connection to the shooting death of a woman during a failed robbery attempt. Kristopher Darling, 24, is accused of driving Joseph Montoya and Austin Wilkins to the home of Brandy McManus in October.

    According to the criminal complaint, the trio was planning to rob McManus, but she refused to open the door. Montoya and Wilkins are accused of shooting through the door and killing McManus.

    The state filed for pretrial detention against Darling on Wednesday. They filed motions against Montoya and Wilkins last week .
