ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police Department (APD) said they are investigating two overnight crashes this weekend.

The first crash happened on Saturday evening around 10:30 p.m. The Fatal Crash Team was called to an incident on Eubank Blvd SE and Central Ave SE . APD stated there was an intoxicated man inside a Circle K store and was asked to leave. He headed north on Eubank on foot and tried to cross the road. He was hit by a Honda SUV in the center lane.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. APD said the driver wasn’t intoxicated, and speed didn’t seem to be a factor.

Another crash happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday near Oak Street NE and Lomas Blvd NE. Investigators concluded a motorcycle was heading north on Oak Street, approaching Lomas Blvd, when he left the roadway and hit a speed limit sign. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told police they knew the motorcyclist and said he had consumed alcohol. This hasn’t been confirmed, but officials don’t think speed was a significant factor.

Both crashes are still being investigated.
