Lima man arrested after shooting
LIMA — A 20-year-old Lima man is in custody after a shooting that caused critical injuries, according to a press release from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the 2000 block of North West Street at approximately 9:31 a.m. Wednesday. They found a victim with two gunshot wounds. American Township EMS transferred the victim to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center. The victim, who the sheriff’s office did not identify, had injuries that were “critical but considered non-life threatening,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Lima Fire Department extinguishes train car fire
LIMA — The Lima Fire Department responded to a train car on fire Thursday evening, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. Firefighters were initially called at 7:45 p.m. to the vicinity of East Pearl and North Jackson Streets to respond to a report of a fire in a train car reportedly carrying coal. When responders did not find anything at that location, they moved to the rail yard off Robb Avenue, where they found the train car, according to the department.

Shawnee Township Fire Department quickly contains nitric acid spill
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - Shawnee Township Fire Department acted quickly to clean up a nitric acid spill leaking from a truck earlier on Friday. Just before 10:30 a.m., firefighters were called out to Buckeye and Fort Amanda roads for two pools of acid spilled when the truck started and stopped on the road.
