3rd annual Half Pint 5k race is bringing the Christmas Spirit to the Pangle Pavilion
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It may be July, but Operation Half Pint is spreading the Christmas spirit next weekend. The 3rd annual Half Pint 5k race will be held next Saturday, July 27th, at the Pangle Pavilion in downtown Lima. This year's theme is Christmas in July, and a portion of the proceeds will help fund the Christmas Cheer event organized by the Allen County Veterans Service Commission.
Kids graduate with new knowledge and friendships as Safety City Summer Academy winds down
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Safety City Summer Academy is celebrating a successful season. This week marked the end of this year's academy, filled with important lessons and activities at Safety City. Hundreds of kids have graduated with new skills to protect them from potentially dangerous scenarios. Parents and instructors watched proudly as the children earned their certificates and bags of completion at the ceremony.
Shawnee Township Fire Department quickly contains nitric acid spill
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - Shawnee Township Fire Department acted quickly to clean up a nitric acid spill leaking from a truck earlier on Friday. Just before 10:30 a.m., firefighters were called out to Buckeye and Fort Amanda roads for two pools of acid spilled when the truck started and stopped on the road. The truck driver was able to shut off the leak on Buckeye Road.
Waterline replacement to close portion of Elizabeth Street in Lima for three days

The street will be open in the evenings after 5:00 PM. This is for a waterline replacement.
Allen County Museum to open new exhibition
LIMA — The Allen County Museum will open its last temporary exhibition of the year, “The Art of Domesticity” on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 620 W. Market St. in Lima. The exhibition will share contemporary art from five women artists, as well as decorative arts from the 19th and 20th centuries, with a lecture series starting in September and workshops starting in October to go with it.
