An Army officer stationed at Fort Liberty used his position to steal and resell military equipment and pocket the proceeds, amounting to almost $2 million. Chief Warrant Officer Three (CW3) Christopher Hammond, 38, pleaded guilty to six charges, including theft of government property, wire fraud, money laundering, mail fraud and transportation of stolen goods. He was convicted by a jury on an additional count of money laundering and aiding and abetting.
Greensboro Man Receives Life Sentence for Murder of Roommate in DeKalb County
A North Carolina man has been handed a life sentence following his conviction on multiple charges including Malice Murder and Felony Murder for the killing of his roommate. The Dekalb County District Attorney's Office announced the jury verdict against Cedric Collins, 25, of Greensboro, for the death of 35-year-old James Broadnax. On July 18, 2024, after trial proceedings in Dekalb County Superior Court, Collins was found guilty of the charges, alongside Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
