High Point officer resigns after DWI charges, department confirms
HIGH POINT, N.C. — A High Point officer resigned from the department Thursday after receiving DWI charges, the department confirmed. Officer Christian M. Pfahlert, 25, was driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding at a high rate of 70 in a 35 mile per hour zone early Tuesday morning, investigators said.

A US titanium company is choosing Fayetteville as the home of its new manufacturing facility. It’s been a long summer (he writes, fully knowing that we are still smack-dab in the middle of it). The hard-baked heat of June and early July has given way to the afternoon storms that you can set your watch to here in the middle of North Carolina. Judge strikes down a North Carolina abortion restriction but upholds another
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A federal judge ruled Friday that a provision in North Carolina’s abortion laws requiring doctors to document the location of a pregnancy before prescribing abortion pills should be blocked permanently, affirming that it was too vague to be enforced reasonably.
