ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — The old Juniata Silk Mill building that sits on Broadway and West 14th Avenue in Altoona is coming down. The building was also known as Juniata Fabrics, Inc.

Demolition has already started on parts of the building, and on Tuesday, the contractors were seen tearing down the front officer and a few other spaces.

The plan is to renovate the building and lease it out to attract more businesses to the Juniata area.

“This here, I believe it’s going to be four or five spaces plus front area where the offices are now is going to be a parking lot, a one-directional. And then the section they tore down – the other two sections are going to be parking lots as well to make sort of like a condominium type of place,” Benjamin Hornberger, who plans on starting a business in the new building said.
