ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) – Pittsburgh Pirates closer David Bednar and reliever Ryan Borucki will begin rehab assignments with the Altoona Curve, according to both teams.

Bednar is currently recovering from a left oblique strain, which has put him on the Injured List since June 20. This season, Bednar has a 3-3 record with a 5.17 earned runs average (ERA) and 16 saves in 34 games.

Meanwhile, Borucki is healing from left triceps inflammation that has limited him to just four games this season for the Pirates. In those games, Borucki pitched 3.1 innings and has allowed four hits with two earned runs and six strikeouts.
