Angela Hatch, 49 (Blair County Prison)

Angela Hatch, 49, was allegedly driving erratically on 9th Avenue, blaring her horn and throwing items from her car when Altoona police were called around 8 a.m. Saturday, July 20, charges show. Police made contact with her in a parking lot on the 800 block of 19th Street where she was sitting with her car door open. Police noted there were items all over the ground around the car door including cigarettes and rubber ducks.

Hatch claimed she was leaving the items for the homeless, the criminal complaint reads. She then sat back down in the driver’s seat and held up a rock the size of her fist, threatening to throw it at the officer, police said.

When police tried to speak with her in her car, they said she put the car in reverse, nearly bashing the officer with the open car door. She then took off out of the parking lot.

Police said by the time they got into the cruiser and out of the parking lot, they began to lose sight of Hatch.

According to the complaint, the officer made it to 12th Avenue where people were gathering for Hoopsfest. Spectators began to wave for the officer, directing them in the direction of Hatch at the light at 12th Avenue and 17th Street. Police noted that 12th Avenue was shut down at the time for Hoopsfest.

Hatch parked her car in front of the Altoona police station and got out, heading towards 11th Street. According to the affidavit of probable cause, police caught up to Hatch. They noted she was belligerent and had to be picked up and carried back to the station.
