Veterans and community gather to honor a homeless Purple Heart recipient
Charleston, W.Va (WCHS) — Veterans and supporters came out to pay their respects to Purple Heart recipient, Ronald Tittle, who passed away homeless and with no known family. His funeral was held on Thursday at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Institute. Those who were in attendance wanted to make sure Tittle had a proper funeral and was thanked for his service.

City of Hurricane breaks ground on new housing project
HURRICANE, W.Va. — A new apartment complex is coming to Hurricane, as the city, in partnership with AB Contracting Inc., broke ground on 304 at Valley Pointe Wednesday. True to its name, 304 at Valley Pointe will feature 304 units on Teays Valley Road, directly behind Wendy’s. One, two, and three-bedroom apartments will be offered, along with a fitness center, a resort-style swimming pool, and a pickleball court.

Boone County pig roast cooks up college aid
In 1987, a few folks in Boone County got together to see if they could raise some money to help one of their local students attend West Virginia University. The story goes that ten people put in $100 each and they gave away one $1,000 scholarship. The money also helped buy a trumpet so the student could join the WVU marching band.
