SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — A man from Alvin, Texas, died in Kimble County on June 6 after being involved in a rollover car crash, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

TxDPS stated that the incident occurred at 6:53 a.m. on Interstate Highway 10, approximately 8 miles east of Junction, Texas. The road had a posted speed limit of 80 mph and its conditions were dry during the time of the crash.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2002 Toyota PreRunner was traveling “at a high rate of speed and attempted to change lanes between the front end of a witnesses’ vehicle and the back end of a truck tractor.”

The driver exited the road on the left shoulder and attempted to get back onto the road. The driver overcorrected during this process, causing the front-right wheel of the truck to catch onto the improved shoulder and forcing the entire vehicle to roll over.

The truck rolled across the road into a tree line on the right side of the highway. The driver was ejected from the vehicle before it entered the tree line, instead coming to “rest on a berm.”

The driver, who was later pronounced dead, was identified as 20-year-old Nathaniel Naseir Nava. The investigation indicates that Nava was not wearing a seatbelt during the time of the crash.
