Sioux Center offers housing support
SIOUX CENTER—Pop, pop, pop. With 2-year-old Aynsley Van Wyhe’s fingers at the ready, bubbles from the machine on the patio of her grandparents’ Sioux Center home didn’t stand a chance Thursday afternoon while her parents, Aaron, 29, and Chantelle, 27, Van Wyhe of Rock Valley, looked on. Chantalle, also holding her 6-month-old daughter Baylor, tried to smile.
FEMA opens 2 new recovery centers after devastating flooding
SPENCER, Iowa — With the recent floods, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is opening two more of its recovery centers this week. One will open in Spencer tomorrow at the Clay County Regional Events Center located at 800 W 18th Street. The other will open Wednesday in Rock Valley at City Shelter House located at 1013 13th Avenue.
Sioux Center to close Seventh Street highway access
SIOUX CENTER—The Sioux Center City Council voted unanimously to close off Highway 75 access of Seventh Street Southeast during its June 25 meeting. The decision was tabled during the June 3 meeting after the city council heard from eight residents who brought concerns about the potential impact such a closure would have on their neighborhood street.
