Sidewalk artists put their best chalk forward for annual Chalk it Up contest at AC

Amarillo College hosted its sixth annual sidewalk art competition, Chalk it Up, on campus Saturday. More than 30 sidewalk artists competed for the top prize of $500. First through third place received cash prizes, along with the fan favorite award. Collaboratively sponsored by AC and Panhandle PBS, the contest was free to enter, and the artists created their works on 8-foot squares at the Oeschger Family Mall, located between the Ware Student Commons and the College Union Building.

Winners of Saturday's competition included:

1 ^st Place: Mallory Pucha (Quanah Parker) $500

2 ^nd Place: Amanda Fitzgerald & Hagen Hall (Unicorn) $250

3 ^rd Place: Elvira Hernandez & Matthew Rosas (Space Dino) $100

Fan Fave: Olivia Parkin (Falling Up) $25
