Financial matters front and center for Lyon County Commission on Thursday
Two unrelated financial matters will highlight the Lyon County Commission’s action meeting Thursday. First, Lyon County Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell will join Emporia Community Foundation CEO Linda Kehres-Schmidt and United Way of the Flint Hills Executive Director Daphne Mertens in seeking county approval for a Disaster Financial Donations Management memorandum of understanding between the entities.

At the June 2024 Data Quality and Planning Conference hosted by the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR), KBOR President and CEO Dr. Blake Flanders presented Data Quality Awards to Highland Community College and Wichita State University Technical College (Wichita Tech). Kentucky Fried Wishes come true for Emporia Area Chamber Foundation, Little Lyons Childcare
Some of the renovations and new equipment at Little Lyons Childcare will have a decidedly Kentucky Fried aspect to them. No, the playground equipment funded by the KFC Foundation isn’t edible, but the $10,000 coming officially from the Kentucky Fried Wishes community giving program helps to finish off an infant-toddler playground after significant grants from the Trusler Foundation. Ignite Emporia CEO Michelle Margeson tells KVOE News this grant signifies a lot of behind-the-scenes work to fund the project and open up the daycare.
Annual Street Rehab project continues in Emporia
