(Ames, IA) Illinois transfer Sydney Malott has transferred to Iowa State head coach Jamie Pinkerton announced. Malott joins the team with two years of eligibility remaining.

It is the first player to join the Cyclones via the transfer portal since Sophie Maras committed to ISU in May 2022. Malott joins eight freshmen incoming next season as the Cyclones try to replace 11 players from last year’s roster.

The former Illinois infielder is from Liberty, Mo., and appeared in 49 games a year ago including 46 starts. Malott is a flexible defender starting games at first, second and third base and also catcher.

Malott batted .283 last year as a sophomore and finished the year with 24 RBIs and 36 hits. During Malott’s freshman year, she posted 35 hits, 23 RBIs and five home runs, appearing in 48 games with 45 of them being starts.
