Man, woman killed in Amite double homicide

AMITE, La. (WGNO) — Tangipahoa Parish deputies are investigating after a man and woman were found shot to death near Amite on Tuesday, July 23.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, a woman called 911 around 5 a.m. to report having been shot at a mobile home in the 600 block of MLK Street.

When Amite police arrived at the scene, the woman and a man were found dead with gunshot wounds.

The sheriff’s office reported the two are believed to be a couple in their late 20s. Their identities aren’t being released at this time.

Investigators are working to determine the motive of the double homicide and who’s responsible.
