The city of Dallas and Reliant are working together to combat the ongoing Texas heat, and they've opened cooling centers.

On Tuesday, Reliant Energy and Dallas officials have stated that the Beat the Heat partnership has been renewed to help the city go through the heat this summer.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, located at 2922 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, and the West Dallas Multipurpose Center, located at 2828 Fish Trap Road, will be the cooling hubs in Dallas throughout this summer, offering water and snacks.

"Oh, yeah, it's a nice place. Very friendly. Yeah, they feed you; it's a good place to come in and cool out from the heat and relax your mind, get your thoughts together, and meet new friends," Reco Dotson, who's been a Dallas resident for 30 years, said.

The West Dallas Multipurpose Center is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center will stay open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Both colling centers will be closed on Sundays.
