Dense Fog Advisory Alert for NC Counties

Dense fog presents serious risks since it reduces visibility to dangerously low levels and raises the possibility of collisions. When there is a lot of fog, it can be difficult for drivers to see road signs, other cars, and any obstacles.

This decreased visibility may cause delays, congestion in the streets, and an increased chance of accidents. Dense fog in aviation causes schedule disruptions and landing complications, requiring accurate instruments for safe navigation. In addition, because they are harder for cars to see, bicycles and pedestrians are more vulnerable.

The risks associated with dense fog highlight the need for cautious driving, observance of safety precautions, and the use of suitable lighting and signaling equipment to reduce potential hazards.

The NWS has issued the following alert for parts of NC:

"Dense Fog Advisory Alert:...

DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.

* WHERE...The northern foothills and portions of the northwest Piedmont of North Carolina.

* WHEN...Until midnight EST tonight.

* IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Instructions:If driving, slow down, use low-beam headlights and fog lamps, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
