Miracle Sala Wanted For Alleged Assault with an Axe in Anchorage
Anchorage Police Department Press Release Re: Miracle Sala Wanted. At 6:16 PM on July 19, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to Davis Park located at 5081 Mountain View Drive regarding an assault. With the help of citizens, officers located the adult male victim in the woods. He had been assaulted with an axe leaving him with injuries to both the upper and lower body. He was transported to a hospital by AFD Medics for treatment of his wounds which he is expected to survive.
Woman stabbed in alleged fight with man downtown, APD says
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the upper body Friday night in downtown Anchorage, APD said. A phyisical fight was reported to police at about 6:15 Friday night near East 4th Avenue and Barrow Street downtown between a man and woman. That’s where police found out the woman had been stabbed. APD found the woman and she was taken to the hospital. The man who allegedly stabbed her was arrested as a suspect at 6:18 p.m. and was taken to the police department where he’s being questioned by detectives.
Anchorage police chief says body camera footage of Handy shooting to be released ‘probably within a week’
Anchorage police officials say they’ll enact a new body camera policy on Monday that mandates the release of footage of police shootings within 45 days. Police Chief Sean Case said the most recent Anchorage police shooting of Damien Dollison on July 8 will be held to that 45-day standard, though footage of prior shootings may take a little longer.
One lane of Seward Highway reopened after fatal crash at mile 114
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Anchorage Police have reported one person is dead following a two-vehicle crash near Mile 114 on the Seward Highway Saturday. A social media post from the Anchorage Police Department posted around noon stated a serious injury vehicle crash occurred just south of the weigh scales on the Seward. An update posted at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday said that a Kia traveling northbound crossed the center line and struck a Ford F150 pickup truck traveling southbound in the opposite the lane. The driver of the Kia was declared deceased at the scene, and both occupants of the pickup truck were transported to an Anchorage hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Brian Smith sentenced to 226 years for murders
Today (July 12, 2024) Superior Court Judge Kevin Saxby sentenced Brian Steven Smith, 53, to 226 years in prison for the murders of Kathleen Jo Henry and Veronica Abouchuk. Smith was convicted in February of 14 counts including two counts of Murder in the First Degree. A jury also found him guilty of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Misconduct Involving a Corpse.
