    Employee identified in workplace accident, Anderson deputies investigating

    An employee at Anderson Regional Joint Water System has died in an apparent workplace accident, according to officials.

    According to detectives, Tristan Garrett Stone, a 23-year-old employed by the Anderson Regional Joint Water System, was electrocuted in a workplace accident at 512 Vanguard Road around 9:50 a.m. on Thursday.

    Stone was working on an air conditioning unit at one of the company's facilities and cut a live wire while attempting to replace the fan motor in the AC unit and sustained an electrical shock, according to a release from the coroner's office.

    The Anderson County Sheriff's Office assisted the Anderson County Coroner’s Office after receiving a call from Anderson Regional Joint Water System at 998 Hunters Trail.

    "This is the first time an event of this nature has ever occurred," Deputy Director Jeff Caldwell said.

    The facility currently has 21 employees.

    Anderson County EMS, Medshore EMS , Anderson County Fire Department , Anderson County Sheriff’s Office , and the Office of the Corone r responded to the scene.

    EMS personnel attempted resuscitative efforts and transported Stone to AnMed Emergency Center.

    The Anderson County Office of the Coroner, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (OSHA) are investigating.
