    1 juvenile killed, several injured in Ankeny crash over the weekend

    ANKENY, Iowa — One juvenile was killed and several others were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Ankeny Sunday afternoon.

    At around 1:30 p.m. the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash near the 7400 block of NW Fisher Drive. When first responders arrived on scene they found two vehicles involved in a head-on collision.

    According to the sheriff’s office, one of the vehicles was traveling northbound and the other southbound. Two juveniles were in the northbound vehicle. One juvenile was seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The second juvenile was also transported to a hospital, but later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

    The southbound vehicle was occupied by two individuals who both sustained minor injuries. They were treated at the scene and then released.

    The sheriff’s office said an investigation into the crash is ongoing and more information will be released when made available.
