Sherrone Moore is set to begin the 2024-2025 season as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, an outcome that departing coach Jim Harbaugh ensured would happen by including it in his Michigan football contract.

Moore and the Wolverines will kick off the season on Aug. 31 against the Fresno State Bulldogs before welcoming the former Big 12 Champion Texas Longhorns to the Big House on September 7.

Recently, it was revealed by longtime Michigan reporter Isaiah Hole that the Wolverines' new head coach was given high praise by seven-time national championship winning former Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban about the way one of his star offensive units performed last season, a performance Saban saw up close and personal in the Rose Bowl.

"Michigan has the best-coached offensive line of anybody," Saban said. "And they have great technique and they play together."

Moore spent three years as tight ends coach, three years as offensive line coach, two years as co-offensive coordinator and one year as the offensive coordinator with Michigan football before being named the program's 21st head coach in its history.

He said it was "cool" that Saban complemented the offensive line he built over the years and did not know that Saban had made the comments.

"I saw something about like, JJ (McCarthy) and I didn't even hear that comment," Moore said.

"But that's an awesome statement from, probably, arguably, the best college coach in college history."

Michigan beat Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide 27-20 in the Rose Bowl, punching their ticket to the National Championship Game against the Washington Huskies.

"So I've the chance to talk to him a couple of times just about head coach life and things like that," Moore said. "So it means a lot, it means a lot to me, it means a lot to the players. But ultimately, to me, it's what the players did. So they were phenomenal for that and excited for the rest of these guys to keep picking up the slack."
