RICHLAND, Wash. -- UPDATE 3 P.M.: No one was on the bus at the time of the crash.

RPD said a man was arrested in connection to a hit-and-run crash that involved a Ben Franklin Transit bus Wednesday evening.

RPD has not released information about the person arrested.

According to officials, the crash happened around 7 p.m. in the area of Lee Boulevard and Thayer Drive, across the street from Carmichael Middle School.

Officials said the crash resulted in the bus being hit into a yard adjacent to the intersection and also took out a traffic light.

It was determined the bus was not at fault and the run-away driver was the cause of the crash.

Roadwork crews were on the scene Thursday morning to fix the intersection light that was knocked down from the crash. This work caused delays to Richland High School and Carmichael Middle School while crews turned the signal into a four-way stop for the time being. It's unknown when the traffic signal will be completely repaired back into an intersection.

The City of Richland said the pedestrian signals are not working as well.

Officials said the bus driver was hurt with minor cuts and shoulder pain. It's unknown if anyone else was in the bus at the time of the crash.

The condition of the other drive is unknown.
