SANDERSVILLE, Ga. — From Athens to Tybee, Georgia Hi-Lo Inc. is paving a path through Georgia. The groundbreaking for the 211-mile Georgia Hi-Lo Trail is on July 27 in Sandersville. Tax increase included in proposed Oakwood budget
The City of Oakwood is preparing to vote on its Fiscal Year 2025 budget and it announced Thursday that it includes a nearly 6% property tax increase for city residents. The Hall County Board of Commissioners Thursday voted in approval of a self-storage facility neighboring a 148-unit townhouse development north of Gainesville. What were originally plans for just a townhouse development grew to include a neighboring self-storage facility after months of deliberation between the Planning Commission and staff, Board of Commissioners and applicant Shadow Stone Partners, LLC.
Unemployment rates in Gainesville, statewide increase in June
Numbers for Georgia's unemployment are following standard trends seen annually statewide, and are not exempt from the local economic picture. Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said Thursday that Gainesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.2 percent in June, up six-tenths of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 2.6 percent.
