Kirby Smart shares message with UGA fans ahead of 2024 season
Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has a message for Georgia football fans ahead of the Bulldogs’ season opener against the Clemson Tigers on Aug. 31. Smart shared his message in a recent interview with Phillip Dukes of On3. “Yeah, we need you. This is going to be one hell of a season, it’s going to be some great road games, and we’re getting ready to start up,” said Smart. “And my expectation is for us to take over Atlanta and Mercedes-Benz when we play Clemson and have an unbelievable atmosphere and create it to be like a home game for us.” There’s no doubt that Georgia has a great road schedule. The Bulldogs face Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss on the road this year. Georgia fans will need to travel well to help mitigate the home field advantage for this trio of top teams. Georgia’s season will run through Atlanta. The Bulldogs open their season against Clemson in Atlanta. Georgia will look to play in the SEC championship and a pair of College Football Playoff games in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
4-star DB visiting Georgia ahead of his upcoming commitment
Four-star defensive back recruit Jontae Gilbert has set his commitment date for Aug. 10. Gilbert is visiting the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend as he nears a decision. Gilbert is an elite recruit in the class of 2025. He plays high school football for Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Gilbert’s top five schools are Georgia, Georgia Tech, NC State, Louisville and UCF. Gilbert has most recently been predicted to commit to NC State, per 247Sports. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back is ranked as the No. 19 cornerback in the country, per 247Sports. Gilbert is the No. 139 recruit in the nation and the No. 19 prospect in Georgia. On tape, Gilbert shows versatility. He lines up both in the slot and on the outside. The four-star plays wide receiver in addition to cornerback and shows impressive body control when catching the ball. Gilbert is a capable blitzer that is a solid tackler. Gilbert is a good athlete and frequently lines up in press coverage. Georgia has the second-ranked recruiting class in the SEC and the third-best recruiting class in the nation in the 2025 cycle.

ATHENS – Georgia equestrian graduate Caitlin Lyons has been named a Fall 2023-24 women's recipients of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The Mead, Washington native, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.96 GPA to earn a bachelor's degree in Ecology and completed a bachelor's in French this May. She is also currently enrolled in the Master of Natural Resources program.
