According to the Arizona Weatherman, this Memorial Weekend will kick off with stronger gusty winds and an increased chance of fire danger in Arizona. If you're planning to enjoy the great outdoors and go camping, it's crucial to be aware of the danger of wildfires and plan accordingly. These conditions could significantly impact your outdoor activities, so it's important to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

Expect increased wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph on Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25, 2024. These wind conditions, coupled with lower humidity in the 10-20% range and the general lack of rain during this dry season, will increase the chances of wildfires. These stronger winds will be more predominant on the Mogollon Rim, but on Saturday, they will impact more of the eastern part of the state.

Therefore, as the summer season approaches and more outdoor activities become available, please be mindful of the heightened fire danger. Be careful with campfires; ensure they are completely put out, and do not drag chains on the roads with trailers. Burning yard debris is not recommended. Also, heed the national, state, and local fire danger signs and be careful out there. Have a safe holiday weekend!
